说明: 在发射星云IC 1805中心之处的宇宙云,拥有各种奇特的形状[2]。而雕塑出这些云气的,则是星云内刚诞生[3]星团Melotte[4] 15(梅洛特15)的大质量热星之恒星风和辐射。这些稚龄约150万年的星团成员星与及位在原子辉光前方的剪影状黝黑尘埃云[5],散布这片彩色[6]星野里。这张结合窄与宽波段数据的望远镜影像,跨幅约为15光年,其中,来自电离氢[7]、硫[8]和氧[9]原子的光,依据哈伯望远镜著名的色表[10],分别以绿、红和蓝色阶加以着色。更大视野[11]的影像,会清楚显示为何星云IC 1805的简单轮廓,会让它博得心脏星云[12]的雅号。IC 1805位在仙后座[13]方向,离我们约有7,500光年[14]远。
