Research Intern Positions in Distributed Systems Security (including but not limited to blockchains and byzantine fault-tolerance) and Distributed Algorithms, in National University of Singapore

What: These are openings of internship positions for existing undergraduate students from top universities.

When: Usually 2-3 months full-time in Summer 2026, but is negotiable.

Where: School of Computing, National University of Singapore (NUS, see https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg). You will physically come to NUS to do the internship.

Salary: Consistent with the School's guideline on intern salary in School of Computing, NUS.

Job scope of the intership: The main job is to work with Prof. Yu Haifeng (https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~yuhf) on research in the area of Distributed Systems Security (including but not limited to blockchains and byzantine fault-tolerance) and Distributed Algorithms. See https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~yuhf/exampleproject-html/exampleproject.html for some example research projects. Prof. Yu can identify specific research project suitable for you, based on your interests and strengths.

Requirements: An applicant should have completed, by the time of the internship (NOT by the time of the application), either 2 or 3 years of undergraduate study in a top university. The applicant should be in Computer-Science-related major. Students majoring in Mathematics, but with good background/interest in CS, can also apply. The applicant should have strong interest in doing research, and strong algorithmic background. Applicants with achievements in Mathematics/Physics/Information Olympiad at the national or international level are particularly welcome. Background in Distributed Systems Security (including but not limited to blockchains and byzantine fault-tolerance) and Distributed Algorithms is NOT needed.

Priority: Priority will be given to applicants who have strong interest in doing PhD later in related research areas in National University of Singapore.
