Looking for a Friendly Native English Tutor for Our 9-Year-Old Daughter

Hello,

Our family is looking for an international student who is a native English speaker to help improve our daughter’s English speaking skills.

About Our Family

We are a family of three. My wife and I both work at multinational companies and are able to communicate in English.

Our daughter is 9 years old and currently in Grade 3 of primary school.

She finishes school late on weekdays, so she is only available on weekends. We hope to arrange half-day tutoring sessions on weekends, and

the specific schedule can be discussed and agreed upon together.

Regarding her English level:

- Her vocabulary, reading, and writing skills are close to those of children her age in the United States.

- Her listening and speaking skills are slightly weaker, but she can understand conversations and express herself.

- However, her speaking is not yet fluent or precise.

She consistently reads English books and practices writing every week, so her reading and writing abilities are relatively strong. We hope to find a native English-speaking tutor to help her improve her spoken English through guided interaction and practice. Lessons may also include reading and

writing activities when appropriate.

We live in Tian Cun Road, outside the West Fourth Ring Road in Haidian District (see the marked location on the map).

Teaching methods can be flexible and engaging, such as:

- Interactive games

- Casual conversations

- Reading and discussion

- Out-door activities

Tutors are welcome to design effective and enjoyable learning activities based on their own experience.

Requirements for the Tutor

1. A current international student studying at Peking University or nearby universities, and a native English speaker (preferably with a North American accent).

2. Available for a fixed half-day session on weekends (considering commute time).

3. Cheerful, patient, and enjoys working with children.

4. Prior experience in English tutoring, training, or organizing activities is preferred. The tutor should be able to create a fun and engaging learning environment that helps improve spoken English.

5. No Chinese language skills are required.

6. No gender preference.

Selection Process

I plan to select the tutor through the following steps:

  1. Interested candidates are invited to send an email including:

    1.1 A brief self-introduction

    1.2 Your available time

    1.3 Your expected pay per session 

  2. I will review the applications and invite suitable candidates for an in-person meeting.

  3. If both sides feel comfortable, I will arrange a paid trial lesson with my daughter. If the trial goes well, we will proceed with a long-term arrangement.
