A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Shizhen Emily Wang’s laboratory at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) for highly motivated candidates who are interested in studying the systemic effects of cancer mediated by secreted factors including extracellular vesicles.  Our group has a long-standing interest in understanding the multifaceted interactions between tumor and host at the cellular and molecular levels.  We currently focus on mechanisms mediated by cancer-secreted extracellular vesicles and their microRNA and protein cargo, for their role in systemic manifestations and comorbidities of breast cancer such as metabolic diseases and neurological disorders.  Details of Dr. Wang’s ongoing research projects and recent publications can be found at https://profiles.ucsd.edu/shizhen.wang.

Successful candidates will have a recent Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry, or other related fields.  Candidates with a training background in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases or Neuroscience and with prior research experience of mouse models are especially encouraged to apply.  Interested applicants should send the following materials by email to Dr. Wang (emilywang@ucsd.edu).
